The house of respect through pure thought.
Zenreikan Aikido Southport offers traditional Aikido training based on Aikikai principles, with influences from the Iwama style and Morihiro Saito Sensei's weapons curriculum. Classes develop confidence, balance, coordination, discipline, and practical self-defence skills for beginners and experienced practitioners.
Through Aikido, students learn effective martial arts techniques alongside the core values of respect, integrity, courage, and self-discipline in a welcoming environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.
Founded in 2013 by Alan Howells and Carl Hughes in Ormskirk, the non-profit club relocated to Southport in 2014, and all instructors volunteer their time. The name "Zenreikan" translates as "The House of Respect Through Pure Thought", a philosophy that runs through every class.
We currently offer adult Aikido classes in Southport. Students aged 13 and up can also train at our affiliated Tenshinkan Dojo in Waterloo, Liverpool.
